I had the opportunity to try out this brunch/bakery place as part of my birthday weekend. Thought I’d check it out since I heard good things about it just like the other brunch places nearby like Jam cafe but I have to say I’m disappointed. For a place that is known for brunch I don’t know how they were able to screw up so badly.

I ordered the pulled pork shoulder benny and it was a mess. My eggs which I asked to be poached medium ended up being hard poached. The pulled pork had a good flavour to it but was wasted by how tough the meat was. On top of that the salad had almost no flavour and didn’t go well with the rest of the dish at all. Simply put it had no reason being on the plate pretty much being an afterthought. And the smashed potatoes were so bland you might as well give me a raw potato. Adding on top that this took over 30min to arrive, honestly I was shocked. Luckily the meal wasn’t a complete waste.

Their espresso cremeux chocolate cruffin (croissant x muffin) was an absolute delight! The soft inner texture you would find in a muffin crossed with the nice flaky exterior was to die for. Coupled with the light espresso cremeux I would go back here just for this and nothing more! I didn’t get a chance to try their cronut (croissant x donut) since it’s only available on the weekend but I’m sure it’s just as pleasing.

Overall it was a disappointing meal. I think catch 122 needs to focus on their bakery side and leave the brunch to other places. If you’re in the area definitely give this place’s bakery items a try but stay away from dining in or trying anything else on the menu! What place will you never go back to? Comment below!
